Pine Street School is the only authorized International Baccalaureate World School in NYC offering the Primary Years Programme along with Spanish and Mandarin Dual Language Immersion

Pine Street School provides flexibility within a framework to empower future change agents, by encouraging and supporting the expression of each student's highest potential. Our program encourages both personal and academic achievement, challenging students to excel in their studies and in their personal development. We offer a technology-enabled, project-based problem solving setting that nurtures passion with a purpose for life-long learners.

Each day includes opening and closing meetings, guided and open inquiry time and opportunities for students to choose personalized areas of exploration. Long-term projects capture everyone’s imagination, with plenty of opportunities to work collaboratively with others. Theories aren’t passed down at Pine Street School, they’re explored, realized and then tested through primary and secondary resources.

The IB PYP curriculum is designed for children aged 3-11 and is taught in more than 1,200 world class schools in over 100 countries across the globe. The curriculum focuses on global issues, explored in a transdisciplinary manner. Teachers collaborate in building a cohesive program of inquiry across all academic disciplines, and utilize real world problem solving as the means of acquiring traditional academic skills as they develop enduring understanding of essential knowledge. Students develop into capable and thoughtful independent learners who have innate ability to apply themselves meaningfully in the real world.

Montessori and International Baccalaureate are naturals together at Pine Street School. The basic elements of both programs complement each other seamlessly. Where the Montessori method engages a child’s genuine enthusiasm for learning, IB PYP takes that mindset and gives it wings – taking it out onto the global landscape.
