DESIGN TECHNOLOGY & STRATEGY
Chess (Junior K-4th Grade) Lessons include interactive moments, physical movement, and guidelines for game play at each level of development.
Little Inventors/Physical Computing (2nd-4th Grade) In this class, students will build interactive systems that respond to the physical world through code and a variety of hardware. Some projects include creating video game controllers, touch sensitive instruments, and contraptions that respond to light, sound, and temperature.
STEM: Science & Engineering (Junior K-4th Grade) How does a child learn what light is? First they need to understand that light travels. How can a child possibly comprehend we are surrounded by air without learning what air is? In our Science & Engineering class, we teach students "why" then "what" to help them become more inquisitive and to show them how to to look at the world differently. Through hands-on experiments and projects, our class not only builds a foundational understanding of science and engineering, but a love of science at an early age.
Spanish (Junior K-1st Grade) In this after school immersion class, children will learn Spanish vocabulary through games, songs, books, cooking and arts and crafts. This class is a great introduction to students with no previous knowledge in Spanish. I will only speak in Spanish and convey the language through the use of gestures, images and lots of repetition. We use the city as a resource! Guaranteed fun!
ARTS & MOVEMENT
Band (2nd-4th Grade) In the band program, students will learn how to play music in an ensemble setting. Each student will choose a primary instrument that they will play throughout the program and learn fundamental orchestra skills, such as sight reading, posture, rhythm techniques, following a conductor and more. The program will end with a live performance.
Beginner Dance (Junior K-2nd Grade/2nd-4th Grade) This class will include a combination of dance styles and techniques to provide a well rounded and developed understanding of the art form. Stretching and some ballet will be the warm up with influences of modern dance mixed in, followed by a routine usually consisting of hip hop or jazz movements, and ending with a cool down.
Music Technology (2nd-4th Grade) Learn the basics of different recording programs and apps, songwriting, electronic instruments, and more. *Students must have access to an iPad to use for this class.
Super Soccer Stars (Junior K-4th Grade) Kick, run and score with Super Soccer Stars! It is our goal to teach soccer skills in a fun, non-competitive environment. We use imagination-based lessons to build self-confidence and develop teamwork all while inspiring a love of the game. Our specially designed curriculum uses positive reinforcement and a low child-to-coach ratio to ensure that each child improves at his or her own rate. Positive and energetic coaches will have your little one kicking in no time!
