Leadership & Service
"We can no longer afford to think and work in silos."
-UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon
Service learning has many purposes. We want our students to be connected to the broader world, to understand the challenges of the times and to participate in finding and acting on sustainable solutions for the future. We chose the goals most relevant to the lives of our students to launch our service learning opportunities. An IB student is one who takes responsible action. This is where this learning begins.
We involve our parents, teachers, students and community members around these goals, to seek to work alongside others to find sustainable solutions.
Our School Community Goals
In 2015, the UN decided on seventeen global goals for sustainable development. Ten of these goals are the basis for service learning at Pine Street School.
No poverty
Zero hunger
Good health and well-being
Quality education
Gender equality
Clean water and sanitation
Affordable and clean energy
Decent work and economic growth
Industry, innovation, and infrastructure
Reduced inequality
