Diana Shmatok
Elementary Teacher
Diana earned her Bachelor’s degree in Philology from Kyiv National Linguistic University, where she focused on Spanish, English Language, and Literature. Later, Diana completed a Postgraduate Certificate in International Education at the University of Nottingham. Her academic background sparked her interest in international education and helped shape the way she approaches teaching and learning today.
Diana’s teaching journey has taken her from IB international schools in Ukraine to both international and private school settings in Washington, D.C. Through these experiences, she has developed a deep passion for the IB philosophy and its emphasis on holistic, student-centered
learning. Diana is especially committed to fostering a love for life-long learning through a hands-on, inquiry-based approach that helps young learners thrive in today’s fast-paced world.
As a bilingual educator with a strong interest in ESL and language acquisition, she values the role of communication and cultural understanding in education. Diana is also eager to learn new languages. Outside the classroom, she is currently learning tennis, enjoys practicing yoga, and loves exploring new places through travel.
