Lennart Ahlers

Middle School Teacher

Lennart holds a postgraduate teaching diploma in mathematics, political education, and economics from the University of Heidelberg. Since 2020, he has taught these subjects at schools in Heidelberg and Berlin, Germany.

Beyond classroom teaching, he was an elected member of the extended leadership team at his former school. There, he co-developed the media literacy strategy and played a key role in reestablishing the student council with a new constitution. He also launched a support program for students with dyscalculia and initiated a school-wide chess tournament.

Lennart believes that it is important for young people to educate themselves about politics and advocate for the causes they believe in. He is eager to share his experiences interning at the German parliament and ZDF, where he learned about journalism and broadcasting.

Originally from southern Germany, he studied at Durham University in the United Kingdom through an Erasmus exchange program. He volunteered at a daycare in Ukraine for a year and deeply values multicultural experiences and global perspectives. He would like to instill this outlook within Pine Street School’s diverse community.

Outside of school, he enjoys concerts, reading, yoga, meditation, and running. This year, he is moving with his wife to New York.
