Sharon Yang
Mandarin Teacher
Sharon earned her Master’s degree of TESOL from Columbia University, Teachers College in 2019. She is also certified in ESL education by NYSED. After graduation,she has taught in Pre-K–12 bilingual education settings in different schools in New York, teaching Mandarin and English language arts, math, and science. Sharon believes in creating immersive and culturally responsive learning environments, and fostering meaningful connections between language, identity, and community, ensuring students feel seen, supported, and inspired to explore.
Originally from Chongqing, China, Sharon grew up speaking Mandarin along with some regional dialects. She earned dual Bachelor’s degrees in Journalism and English Literature from Southwest University, where she discovered her love for linguistics and teaching. Outside the classroom, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and capturing landscapes through photography. Sharon is excited to bring her experience and enthusiasm to Pine Street School and looks forward to a rewarding school year ahead.
