Pine Street School Names Anna Rita Pergolizzi-Wentworth as Head of School

New York, NY - Date - Pine Street School, a premier International Baccalaureate (IB) World School located in Lower Manhattan, is proud to announce the appointment of Anna Rita Pergolizzi-Wentworth as its permanent Head of School. 

After serving with distinction as Interim Head of School for the past year, Pergolizzi-Wentworth has accepted the Board of Trustees’ invitation to remain in the role, a decision welcomed with overwhelming support from faculty, staff, and families.

During her tenure as Interim Head of School, Pergolizzi-Wentworth oversaw a year of meaningful growth and innovation, including:

• Strengthening enrollment and advancing the school’s IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) continuum

• Enhancing the high school placement process for graduating 8th graders

• Forging new partnerships with organizations such as the German School of Manhattan, local universities, NORY (to launch Pine Street’s first-ever STEAMfest), and NYC Sports League

• Refining Math and Science curriculum practices with academic leadership to ensure students are prepared with both essential skills and future-ready knowledge

• Reinforcing the heart of the Pine Street community by fostering strong parent partnerships, nurturing collaboration, and creating systems that bring stability and confidence

Pergolizzi-Wentworth brings more than two decades of experience in education and school leadership. Prior to joining Pine Street School, she served as Head of School at Battery Park Montessori for seven years and as Executive Director of Operations for Green Ivy International Schools. Earlier in her career, she was the founding Head of School of Del Mar Academy in Costa Rica, an independent bilingual Montessori and IB school.

She holds advanced degrees in education and leadership from Middlebury College and Teachers College, Columbia University, and currently serves as President of the New York State Montessori Alliance. She has also presented internationally on topics including educational leadership, language acquisition, and international-mindedness.

With her record of leadership and her deep commitment to Pine Street School, Pergolizzi-Wentworth is well positioned to lead the school into its next chapter.
